i can't believe it's already 2009! we are so excited to see what this new year is going to bring for us and our friends and family.
the last couple of days have been a whirlwind. brandon got to meet his great grandparents on the 30th. they came bearing gifts...clothes for the little man, a dr. suess book and matching stuffed animal, and chocolate covered potato chips for me. (no, they did not last long!)

i was excited that they got to meet him, but it was also a sad reminder that my grandmother isn't here to meet him. i'd like to think that she was his guardian angel when he was having all of his breathing difficulties.
we went to russell & smith and purchased my new mini. i remember back in high school i told someone to shoot me if i ever said i wanted one. but i love it and i think i look pretty hot driving it. ha ha.

brandon turned one week old last night at 10:07. i couldn't help but turn the lights on and take a picture (or two or 10)! it seems like brandon has always been a part of our life. i am glad that james talked me into having another baby. i feel so complete now. he is such a sweet boy. i was able to stay with him in his room all night. he woke up like clockwork to eat and then i just snuggled with him.

the nurse turned off the oxygen last night, and brandon was able to hold his own for two hours. quite an accomplishment considering what he was like this time last week. the nurse had to turn it back on though because his oxygen saturation kept dipping down into the 70s when he got into a deep sleep. the nurse said that they will try again later today to see how he does. we were told that we need to bring the carseat in so that when he's ready, they can do the carseat test. we also have to take our infant cpr class tomorrow. so we're making headway, but we're not pushing him. i don't want to risk bringing him home and then something awful happening.
thanks again for all your prayers and phone calls/emails. don't forget that we have moved to room h151 if you're going to stop by or if you send one of those notes through the hospital website. if you want to come by, give me a call or call the house to make sure that it's okay to stop by. sometimes they do surgery right there in the unit and they lock it down. we hope that everyone has a happy new year!!!
So glad that he is going better. I hope he makes it even longer without oxygen tomorrow.
