now it's time...to say goodbye...

channeling the mickey mouse club theme song...

ack!!! it's jared's last day of first grade. i can't believe how fast this year went. it seems like i just got used to sending all the mrs. h's {many} folders home on the right day!!!

jared had an awards assembly at school this morning, so i took the time to get a picture of him outside the school. it'll be interesting to compare how much he has grown during the school year. he is very excited about starting the second grade as you can tell!!!

jared got another award for perfect attendance. this is a big deal at his school because in order to get perfect attendance, you cannot miss one day of school the entire year AND you cannot be tardy to school. not one time. ever.

so this was quite an accomplishment for jared and mommy! and did i mention that this is the SECOND year in a row that we've pulled this off?!?!?! i attribute jared and my dedication to him being at school one of the reasons why he does so well. yes, i'm patting myself on the back! if you saw our morning routine...

i came back up to the school for jared's last 1st grade lunch. one of the sweet parents brought in pizza for the class. the kids had such a fun time at the picnic. and they LOVE getting their picture taken...so we took a few sane and not so sane pictures!

after lunch i had to run a few errands, but i came back at the end of the school day to tell mrs. h. and the kids goodbye one more time. even now just typing this i get teary eyed. i love mrs. h.!!! she was so sweet to jared, yet didn't let him get away with anything. i so appreciated all the extra time she spent with him. and for getting the end of year autograph books completed!!! i will treasure it forever!

here is mrs. h. reading the kids the last book of the school year.

and it wasn't just me and jared that liked mrs. h. ... lauren really liked her too. if we're still living in this neighborhood when lauren goes to first grade, we are so requesting her!

have a great summer mrs. h., and thank you, thank you, thank you for being a wonderful teacher to my son!

oh! and we also found out that jared's caseworker is transferring to another school. mrs. funk will surely be an asset to their team. we will miss her very much as she was a great source of information when we needed it. good luck at your new school!
